Review: Fuller’s Organic Honey Dew Ale
5 Aug
I saw this beer in 1001 Beers to Try Before You Die last spring and wanted it desperately! It just sounded refreshing and yummy! It sounded like the perfect summer beer! So since I run a pub I immediately started harassing all my suppliers (and yes I did totally harass them!) for this beer. I even sent my boyfriend on a hunt for it when he was in England! So it recently got passed to be sold in VA last month (after 4 long years proving to the FDA it is organic) and we were the first pub to carry it! It comes in a half liter bottle so it’s a great deal. Now, I HATE MILLER LIGHT, and despite what some people say (BYOBates) this is a great light beer and does not taste like Miller Lt! It is light and crisp as advertised) and the bitterness is at a very low level for English ale, almost more lager-ish really. The honey is noticeable in several different ways. The smell is not too strong of honey but you taste the sweetness sort of on the back of it. When it is extremely cold or slightly warm is when the flavor is the strongest and regardless of temperature – I think it taste good. It isn’t a strong beer, but I have enjoyed a couple of them and felt it quickly! I would not say this is the best beer in the world but on one of these ridiculously hot days it is very refreshing and enjoyable to relax with.
