Review: Porterhouse Oyster Stout

9 Aug

Oyster StoutThis was recently offered to me by a sales rep & it sounded so odd how could I not get it in?  So while I can’t stand oysters, their texture or taste, we tried it anyways.  After all Porterhouse (Irish Micro-brew) has a pretty decent reputation. This beer is extremely dark!  Has a very thick foamy head that leaves a nice lacing & takes frigging FOREVER to pour!!  Once it settles (seriously 15 minutes later!) it is a gorgeous stout.  It’s a no no for vegetarians or people allergic to oysters according to their site but I don’t taste oyster at all.  So I am not sure what the whole point is but it is an okay stout.  Maybe hints of a saltier taste to it here & there.  Looking at it I thought there was no way I could finish it, that it would be “heavier” than Guinness but that actually seem opposite.  For all the work put  into it I think I expected more than it could give.  (Kind of like Men .. ha ha) I don’t think I would get this one again and really wouldn’t waste the calories to drink it!
