Review: Prohibition Ale

11 Aug

Speakeasy San Francisco Prohibition AleI like red ales, but this one is not my style. I really want to like it. The whole Prohibition thing is cute. I am looking for a red ale to carry at the pub but this isn’t it!  It has very little head to it & a scattered lacing that disappeared quickly.  Dark amber in color, it tricks you into thinking it is going to be good.  I think it may be a bit too hoppy for me.  The aroma is not too strong (malty/caramel with hops) and the more I sip this the more I can handle it but ….hmmm I don’t know.  It truly does start to taste better each sip I take, but I really don’t feel like having to work to like a beer.  I think that some of the other red ales out there are better.  Like even Hook & Ladder’s Red.  Yup, I have to say that this one just isn’t passing it.  NEXT!
