Happy 17th to Legend Brewery!

Legend BrewingOn February 27th we were fortunate to be invited to Legend Brewery’s 17th Anniversary bash in Richmond, VA. Legend is one of my favorite local breweries – great food, amazing beer and an incredibly hospitable team of folks who truly love making great beer – what more could you ask for?

When spending time in Richmond, I have a few recommendations. Stay at the Crowne Plaza on Canal Street. Lovely rooms, great service and a short shuttle ride away from anywhere you might want to go. (more…)

The Chicks Take On Harrisonburg – Pub Crawl

Despite rain, sleet, ice and snow – the pub crawl must go on (and it did!) Nineteen chicks gathered at Cally’s Restaurant and Brewing Company around 1PM on Saturday to kick off our grand beer tour of Harrisonburg, VA. Mark and I dodged bad weather for three days in order to make the journey from Front Royal to Harrisonburg to join our friends who were ready to paint the town “beer”. And that we did. (more…)

Review: Breckenridge Avalanche Ale

Avalanche AleI’ve been looking for Avalanche Ale for some time and hadn’t been able to find it near my house. So my dear friends Shobha and Ed brought me a sixer from World Market (a surprisingly good place to pick-up beer). I must say that this is one tasty, sessionable beer. I can admit that I’m always a bit put off by the can, but I would happily pick up this beer again despite the aluminum.

Considering the beer was from a can, it had decent carbonation with a light head and subtle lacing on the glass. It pours into a deep amber color – a really pretty beer. (more…)
